­The castle museum, the ducal museum and the museum of natural history are part of the „baroque universe“ of Gotha. In the castle you`ll furthermore find the „Ekhof-Theater“ (Ekhof theatre). This is the oldest preserved baroque theatre with still functioning set design in the world. The castle park ranks as the oldest park on the European continent based on an English model.

The Tivoli Gotha is a high-level memorial of the social democracy in Germany. Here  was the foundation in 1875 of the socialistically workers`party Germany (SAP), as immediate predecessor of the SPD (Social Democracy Party of Germany). Furthermore the foundation at presence of Willy Brandt and Egon Bahr of the first state association of the SPD in the former GDR (DDR) was here on January the 27th 1990.

Since April 2006 there subsisted a permanent exhibition about the history of the German social democracy with the focus of Gotha („Vereinigungskongress“ union congress 1875, SAPD/SPD- party conferences in 1876, 1877 and 1896, USPD-foundation in 1917, SED- compulsory merger in 1946 and SPD- refounding in 1990). Also there are shown changing special exhibitions. Presentations and events also belong to the offer.
